Sun Country
Combined Federal Campaign
Message from CFC Honorary Chair
Dear Colleagues:
As we kick off another season of Sun Country CFC giving, it is time again to ask what we can do for our country and for each other. The CFC has made federal workers one of the most powerful philanthropic forces in history, but the success of this campaign depends on your participation. With your help, even a small donation can help our agency reach our goal of sending more than $1.5 million to charities and worthy organizations this year. If you have not participated in the CFC before, it’s a great way for federal employees to give to charities that serve a range of causes, from supporting our troops and their families to providing disaster relief to advancing critical medical research to protecting our environment and more.
2011 marks the 50th anniversary of the CFC. This landmark presents a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and thank volunteers and donors for helping charities do good for so many people across the world. Despite a very tough economic year in 2010 and a drop in charitable giving across the country, Federal civilian, military and postal employees pledged a record $281.5 million to the CFC.
I am grateful for the Sun Country CFC program coordinators and key workers who volunteered to help with this important effort. Your office’s coordinators and key workers will be your best resource for giving and will keep you up-to-date on CFC events and other information.
As we work to “go green,” we will once again be offering online pledging through the suncountrycfc.org website. Online pledging will allow you to make a scheduled payroll donation to a CFC-supported charity. This concept of E-Giving will also allow employees to be able to participate in the campaign regardless of their physical location. The CFC will still accept cash or check donations using a traditional paper pledge forms as well.
This year our Sun Country Family has grown. We have incorporated the Val Verde Area CFC and acquired the West Texas Counties of Val Verde, Loving, Ward, Reeves, Crane, Crockett, Reagan, Upton, Edwards, and Kinney. This will allow us to reach more federal employees serving more federal agencies in a greater geographic area. Together, we can meet our goal of 100% contact with prospective donors and achieving our goal of $1.5 million.
Please take a moment to visit suncountrycfc.org for more details on how and why to give. We can make this the best CFC year ever for the Sun Country region – and for the people and families served by CFC-supported charities. I look forward to joining you in continuing the Combined Federal Campaign’s extraordinary history of giving.
Sincerely,
Debra Tellez
